About the project

Problem

Performance gear needs visuals that match its intensity

Gherkin's Spectre paddle is built for aggressive, offense-driven play, featuring a 12K raw carbon fiber surface, thermoformed edges, and a 16mm honeycomb core designed for power and control. But a product with that level of engineering deserves more than standard product shots. The challenge was creating a visual identity for the Spectre that lives up to its name and communicates the technology behind it in a way that resonates with competitive players.

Solution

A 30-second spot built around the identity of the paddle itself

We leaned into the name, Spectre, defined as a ghost, phantom, or apparition, and reinterpreted that concept through the lens of digital entities and AI. The spot places the paddle in a Matrix-inspired environment filled with cascading code and data streams. A cloth simulation peels back to reveal the paddle, robotic hands interact with it, and when the paddle strikes the ball, code and numbers scatter from the point of impact across the environment. Custom sound design was developed in partnership with Amplitudo to shape the audio around the visuals, giving each moment its own texture and weight. The result is a concept piece that ties the product's branding directly into the visual language of the film, while weaving in key details like the carbon fiber surface, edge construction, and sweet spot throughout the 30-second runtime.
