About the project

Problem

Some of the best product features happen where cameras can't go

Chefman's Caffeinator Drip is a 14-cup programmable coffee maker built around features that happen inside the machine, like an extra-wide showerhead that fully saturates the grounds and a built-in blooming cycle that reduces bitterness. These are key selling points, but they're nearly impossible to capture with traditional live-action footage. Getting a camera, proper lighting, and a usable angle inside a coffee basket filled with grounds and water just isn't practical.

Solution

CG shots that take the viewer inside the brew process

We collaborated with the Chefman team to produce 3D-animated interior shots that were integrated into a larger live-action edit. The hero sequence brings the camera inside the coffee maker, showing the showerhead distributing water across the grounds and the blooming process as it happens. Coffee grounds were built using a geometry node particle system, a water simulation was layered on top, and steam was composited into the final shots to sell the realism. A significant part of the process was getting the lighting and camera positioning right inside such a tight, enclosed space, making it feel natural and grounded even though the shot would be physically impossible to capture in real life.
